House Sparrow hooligans

What to do about Sparrows?

Have had, for a while now, about half a dozen sparrows on the sunflower seed feeder but what a mess.
For every seed they consume there must be ten scattered far and wide. They seem to be looking for something else or better?

Yes, great watercolour. Think of House Sparrow as the avian equivalent of teenage West Ham supporters on an away day.

Hi guys
I must defend the poor old House Sparrow. We have about 20 living in our garden and if i get up in a bit of a mood in the morning i can guarantee that i am smiling as soon as i see and hear these lovely birds. They are just a bit boisterous, thats all.
Cracking watercolour Dick.
Cheers John

I have about 40 in my Garden and Im convinced that they do this on purpose as the Collared Doves, Pigeons and Starlings then feed directly under the feeders whereas when I first put the feeders up they would try to land on them with some quite spectacular upsets. I also put a couple of fat balls on a wooden tree stump (only about 3-4inches high) and all the Pigeons and Starlings stick to them and leave the higher up placed ones to the Tits, Sparrows, Robins etc.

Great watercolour.
